New York Supreme Court Justice Upholds $22 Million Verdict On Behalf of Two LPK Clients On November 5, 2004, Justice Paula J. Omansky denied John Crane Inc.'s bid to overturn a $22 million verdict in favor of two LPK clients. John Crane filed a series of post-trial motions which Justice Omansky denied. Mr. Mayer and Mr. Pride were both exposed to asbestos-containing gasket and packing products sold by John Crane. Mr. Mayer, was exposed to asbestos from John Crane products while working as an apprentice electrician at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for two years in 1943 through 1945. Mr. Mayer went on to have a career in business before retiring in Florida. Mr. Pride was exposed to these John Crane products while working as a seaman in the Navy and Merchant Marines over many decades. Mr. Pride had retired in South Carolina before being diagnosed with mesothelioma.
