Increased numbers yield Increased risks
Over the past 15 years, medical technology manufacturing has increased its ranks from 5,900 to over 16,000 manufactures. While most products are effective and greatly improve the quality of life for many individuals, regrettably, some devices do more harm than good. Regardless of cause—e.g. poor design and testing, defective materials, physician error, and other factors—the outcome often results in pain, suffering, and even death. In many cases, a patient must undergo additional surgery to correct the error.
